The Sharks are working on in-arena experiences, but the fans are demanding one specific change.
Hockey is back, folks. The San Jose Sharks (rookies) play this coming Saturday. Training camp also opens on September 17th. A long summer without hockey is finally over.
With the new season on the horizon, the Sharks have initiated a “preseason lab.” The idea is to gather fan opinion and votes on specific in-arena presentations such as TV timeout games. However, fans have been demanding one thing: a new goal song. The Sharks created a goal song that debuted last season. The song, “Power Bite” by Bvrnout, has been strongly criticized, with fans calling it AI-generated.
So if the Sharks listen to the San base and choose a new goal song, what could be in the running?
Rock and Roll Part 2 by Gary Glitter
This probably will not happen. Rock and Roll Part 2 was the Sharks’ goal song until 2016. The song will be a nostalgia hit for older fans. However, Glitter has dealt with serious legal issues, and the team will most likely not want any affiliation.
Power by Kanye West
Eliminate the lyrics and utilize the in-arena organ, and this has potential. Without the chorus, we are left with the background chanting. That makes it very easy for the crowd to get into it.
Players have said that when the Sharks were good, and the Tank was rocking, it was a very difficult place to play. A goal song like that gets fans on their feet and chanting loudly. Very loud. The Tank would return to that intimidating aura.
Jump Around by House of Pain
This one is nothing but good vibes. While House of Pain might not be a Bay Area group, the song does have Bay Area ties. San Francisco Giants fans will remember the song as Brian Wilson’s entrance music.
The Sharks could use two parts of the song: the beginning where there are no lyrics sung, or towards the end with that same melody accompanied by “Jump! Jump! Jump!” The latter would get more fan interaction. Just be careful when you jump.

Thunderstruck by AC/DC
Teams usually use the intro of this track to start a game/quarter/period. However, the Sharks could start the song with “You’ve been thunderstruck.”
A classic stadium song, but a different section. The potential is there.
Choices (Remix) by E-40
This one would take some time, but the payoff could be huge. Now, I say remix because at the beginning of the Golden State Warriors dynasty, E-40 remixed his song “Choices” and made it a Warriors anthem. The Sharks could try to create their own anthem.
The chorus in the Warriors remix is, “everybody say Warriors, Waaaarioooors.” A Sharks remix would have to be tweaked due to the syllable difference. Every other Bay Area team has had an anthem of some kind. It is the Sharks’ turn for one.
We could go on and on here. The possibilities are thousands upon thousands. I would love to hear others’ opinions, though. And who knows, maybe with enough people voicing their opinions on social media, the Sharks could take action. It is worth a shot.
