Rams/49ers Week 1:

Looking for score predictions for the 49ers opening week 1 game against the Los Angeles Rams in the down-under in Australia? Then you’ve come to the right place. Don’t worry we’ll get to Jed York soon. For now let’s talk scoring and predictions. I know I’ve pegged this game as a possible loss with a tough season looming for the 49ers. But who can pass up this dick measuring contest between Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan in another country nonetheless? Not this guy. Let’s divulge into some of key contributing factors that follow this game besides the score.

Score & Predictions:

Number 1, this game between the Rams and 49ers is a divisional game and both teams are traveling from their California homes 8,000 miles away. That alone should almost change your mind of betting on this game regarding the under/over predicted score matchup of 48.5 points, and I can easily see this being a 20-17 or 23-20 game going in either teams favor. The reason I don’t see this game being a shoot-out at the Kangaroo Corral is because both teams are traveling 8,000 miles and not to mention the Rams will have different traveling plans/times then the 49ers who are reported as getting to Australia a week before the game takes place to acclimate to the timezone change of 16-19 hours depending on your location. Rams are reportedly arriving days before the matchup, so, no, I don’t see this game even sniffing the over of 48.5 points for their week 1 matchup. No matter how much and hard Shanahan & McVay want this game, look for the score to be a little limp with 49ers winning this game with the healthiest roster they’ll possible have all season.

Weight Of Game 1 In Australia:

Number 2, so what if the 49ers lose this game? Don’t worry. 49ers beat the Seattle Seahawks in Seattle in the 2025 season week 1, and somehow the Seahawks found a way to regroup and win the Lomabrdi trophy.  So, 49ers fans try not to worry too much about the score of this game as the most important thing is the health of the players after this international matchup. It’s a long season and the 49ers have another international game lingering in Mexico in the middle of the schedule for their week 11 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. Worst case scenario, 49ers lose the game and key starters, so let’s try to stray away from that outcome and return home with our heads held high and healthy.

Odds Are:

Sorry 49ers fans, Rams are favored by Vegas to win this game with the spread at 2.5 points. So look for the scores I predicted. Like I stated above, I don’t think this game will go over the 48.5 total. I could even see this game ending in a 13-10 given all the circumstances of travel and this being the first game of the season, and of all things, international.  Out of the 16 2025 Week 1 games, only 3 games went over 48.5. One was Ravens vs Bill with the Bills winning 41-40, then you have the MNF matchup that went 27-24 with the Vikings taking out the Bears, and the last one was an earlier matchup between the Steelers and Jets with the Steelers eking out a win with a score of 34-32. So, based off those scores and when they happened I don’t see a high scoring game between the Rams & 49ers. True, the highest scoring games that took place last season were on Nationally televised games on SNF & MNF, and the 49ers kick off the season on TNF, so there’s that miny factor relating to the highest scores during the week 1 matchups of 2025. So, out of 16 week 1 games last season, only 3 went over 48.5 points, and 2 of those 3 that did were SNF & MNF televised games. While you can make a case for both going over and under the 48.5 total, odds are it not happening and that’s not even factoring in the travel. 49ers win and cover the spread and keep it under week 1 against the Rams 26-23, book it.
