Gums. Lots of gums.
And teeth.
The NHL is launching a new league-wide jersey set called the Hometown Remix; all 32 teams will be getting a new alternate jersey.

For the San Jose Sharks, that will make four, assuming the Heritage 2.0 from last season is retired. The New York Islanders and Florida Panthers have had their jerseys leaked online. For the Sharks, new details have emerged.
And boy oh boy, those details are something.
On the What Chaos! Podcast, co-host DJ Bean revealed he has seen a number of teams’ jerseys. In addition, he revealed personal renderings of these jerseys. Think loopholes in contracts. He showed renderings of the Edmonton Oilers, Detroit Red Wings, Minnesota Wild, and Los Angeles Kings. He stated the jerseys would be much better than the art.
The kicker here: he did not receive permission to show the Sharks jersey he drew. He was able to show his other co-hosts, but not the audience.
Instead, he had to describe the jersey.
This will be a jersey people will absolutely love, or absolutely hate.
“It is a ridiculous jersey that I love,” was how Bean began describing the jersey.
He describes it as a light teal jersey, and the crest is the SJ with the full shark. He then says the jersey has a “very heavy shark mouth aesthetic that really takes over the sleeves.”
They then joked about gums for about a solid minute.
That is a lot to take in. The Sharks are known for having some of the best jerseys in the NHL. With this hometown remix, though, it sounds like they will go the exact opposite.
And it might still work.
This could be one of those jerseys that is so absolutely ridiculous that retailers will not be able to keep it in stock. People who may not even be hockey fans could scoop them up. The Sharks did just that with their debut jerseys in the early 90s. Wild and outlandish can and will be cool.
The Heritage 2.0 was only used in four games last season. I would expect these Hometown Remix jerseys to get about that many games.
I will withhold judgment until the actual jersey comes out. But man, the information we have is insane.
