Anyone who’s been a season-ticket holder for a while with the San Francisco 49ers already knows the feeling of being let down, faked out, and totally missed out due to the 49ers’ lack of planning and sound reasoning when it comes to events.
Don’t Look Now Season Ticket Holders

Take the latest event for the 2026 season: the 49ers invited season ticket holders to a nice movie with family and friends, and each account holder is allowed up to 4 tickets. The event involved taking those who had secured tickets to see the recent release of Toy Story 5 at local theaters in the Bay Area, including San Jose, San Bruno, and Santa Clara. Fans were given the choice of the theater closest to them and a variety of dates. Since I live closer to the peninsula in Daly City, I decided to select the July 7th showing of Toy Story 5 at Tanforan theaters, which is about a 15-minute drive from my house.
Here We Go Again 49ers
I knew something was oddly wrong when we parked, entered the mall/theater, and saw a long line forming right when you got off the escalator. The 49ers event e-mails stated that you were to arrive at 4:30 pm, and the latest check-in would be 5pm; after that, there would be no movie for you. My guest and I literally got in line at 4:20 pm, earlier than the stated time, and checking in was a breeze. But once we got to the theater, it was literally like a scene from the movie itself. Tons of people not sharing seats and moving next to each other, leaving gaps between families, tons of children crying and throwing food. I wasn’t the only season-ticket holder who was miffed at the situation, as the guest behind me in line entered the theater #5 and immediately sought out the 49ers staff.
Once, one of the 49ers’ season-ticket reps entered the theater to remind everyone that this was the free showing for 49ers fans only and that if there was a seat in between, please move over, and, of course, people just ignored her. I was pissed as hell, because as usual, I feel like I’ve been bamboozled by the 49ers, and all they can muster up is the 1000’s of sorry ass sorries I’ve heard before.
Season Ticket Lies & Broken Promises
Don’t worry, the guest and I didn’t sit there and take that shit, no pun intended, but we went and sat in the theater around the corner, which happened to have no one in it showing Minions and Creatures. I found myself way calmer, more relaxed, and happy to enjoy the free popcorn, soda, and candy that the 49ers provided to each guest upon entry. The 49ers staff were clueless about how to remedy the overpacked-theater situation, so I’m going to have to give this season-ticket holder event a huge F+. The plus is for the free food; otherwise, it’s definitely an F-.
For fans paying $3,5000 a season alone for one seat, this has to stop. Either make it so everyone can enjoy it, or don’t have the events at all and discount my season ticket costs.
I’d complain to the 49ers, but I’ve learned that they couldn’t really care less once they have your money. Funny thing, too, is that they sent a survey out to fans to rate the experience. Note to others, don’t buy season tickets unless it’s in the nosebleeds, where the PSLs won’t make you go broke.
Don’t worry, though, I’ll be here to document all the madness the 49ers create and all the broken promises.
Till the next 49ers letdown and marginal season-ticket event.
