The NHL Draft is finally here!
Ivar Stenberg, Welcome to San Jose!
It is official: with the second overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, the San Jose Sharks select Ivar Stenberg. After the William Eklund trade, this is no surprise.
The young 18-year-old Swede will look to make the Sharks roster out of training camp in the fall. And with a forward spot opened up, he will have a great opportunity. Whether he is on Macklin Celebrini’s wing or Michael Misa’s, this kid will score goals.
Keaton Verhoeff, Welcome to San Jose!

Some projections had Verhoeff going in the top three. Luckily for the Sharks, they were able to draft him at nine. He has been added to a prospect pool that desperately needed right-handed defensemen.
Last season, Verhoeff chose to focus more on developing his defensive game. If he can continue to develop defensively, his offense is already good. He has a heavy shot, exactly what the Sharks need from the blue line.
Ryan Lin, Welcome to San Jose!
With the 21st pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, the San Jose Sharks select Ryan Lin. The Sharks traded picks 27, 62, and 120 to Philadelphia to acquire pick 21.
Lin is an 18-year-old defenseman from Richmond, BC, Canada. The righty is listed as 5′ 11″ and weighs 176 pounds. Last season, Lin played for the Vancouver Giants of the WHL and was an alternate captain.
In 53 games, Lin scored 14 goals and added 43 assists. He also played for Team Canada at the World Juniors. In five games, he scored one goal and had five assists.
With that selection, people are crowning the Sharks the winners of the draft. And it is not close.
