Of course, the A’s leaving Oakland after 58 years is a sad thing, and anyone who tells you otherwise is a liar. Let’s be honest, though: Oakland wasn’t being forthright about its funding for the stadium and the assets the city had to provide, which is why the former mayor (Thao) is still under investigation by the FBI and faces court charges in October of 2026.
Fisher was smart; he had wanted out of Oakland for years, and this was his perfect opportunity to do so. In all honesty, I would have left for Las Vegas as well, given what I know now about Oakland’s honesty on a stadium deal.
Las Vegas was too good a deal for the A’s to pass up while averaging 4,000 in attendance on a good weekday at the Coliseum.
Sell The Team? Yeah. Right.

John Fisher won’t sell the team before the Las Vegas transition is complete, and anyone who wants to or thinks this is a great idea is a complete baboon. It would be like damaging your own house over the years of living there, and then trying to sell it at a high price in a buyer’s market.

John Fisher knows that he can maximize his gain by being patient and selling the team after they’ve settled in Sin City for a year or two. It’s not like he needs the money either, as his current net worth is around $3 billion.
Let the season ticket packages be sold, club seats vetted, and fantasies filled; there’s no doubt the new stadium will be a literal gold mine.
Where Will the Haters Go?
What will become of those who dragged their feet in opposition to the move over the years? That’s a great question. If fans of both the A’s and the MLB noticed, the ones pounding their chests about the move are the same ones looking to profit off it as well, with shirts, signs, and cute little slogans while bashing the A’s franchise and current management.
The funny thing is that most of this content is commonly spewed by the same suspects, which suggests there aren’t too many die-hard fans who don’t understand the situation.
These sycophants will eventually fall at the waist as their screams of injustice fall upon deaf ears.
You’ll Be Sorry!
When the new stadium opens in 2028, and the A’s start winning before their actual move. Fans will start to apologize for their obnoxious hate when, in actuality, John Fisher is making the most sound business decision of anyone owning their own business, let alone their own franchise. The 2026 season has already begun, so in actuality, there’s only 1 more season left in Sacramento, and the move to Las Vegas is right around the corner. Look for the cheers and jeers to get increasingly louder as the days go by.
Without John Fisher, none of this is ever possible, and you could be seeing the A’s as a franchise that possibly would not exist. Who knows, maybe the A’s become an expansion team that moves to a location seeking an MLB franchise, such as Nashville, Salt Lake, or Portland.
He Was Right—And You Know It
John Fisher was right; you were wrong. It’s okay to admit it. The most important thing is preserving the franchise for generations to come, and Fisher has helped initiate that.
Those who despise such never liked or were really A’s fans to begin with.
