Devin Haney, the current undisputed lightweight champion, is moving up in weight to challenge Regis Prograis for his WBC World Super Lightweight Title at Chase Center in San Francisco on Saturday, December 9th.

This is a massive fight for the Bay Area, with San Franciso’s own, Devin Haney, looking to make history in his own backyard.

Devin Haney is 30-0 in his professional boxing career.  He initially won the WBC lightweight title back in 2019 and defended that belt four times before getting a unification bout with George Kambosos Jr. in June of 2022.  He won that fight to become the undisputed lightweight champion and defended his belts in a rematch with Kambosos Jr. and, most recently, the highly respected Vasiliy Lomachenko in a close decision win this past May.  Haney will now move up in weight to look at to add to his bout collection by challenging Regis Prograis.

Regis Prograis is the current WBC light welterweight champion (also referred to as the super lightweight belt).  Prograis won the vacant title with a knockout victory over Jose Zepeda in November of 2022 and defended his belt with a split decision win over Danielito Zorrilla this past June.  Prograis is putting his belt up to allow for this super fight with Haney.

According to, Haney is a -400 favorite to win this fight, which implies a probability of 80% that Haney will get the job done and make history in San Francisco on December 9th.

A win for Devin Haney should set up more big fights in 2024 with opponents such as Gervonta Davis, Shakur Stevenson, Jack Catterall, Teofimo Lopez, and even a rematch with Lomachenko as potential huge fights for Haney in 2024.

If Prograis pulls off the upset, he could be in line for a rematch with Josh Taylor, who handed him his only career loss, a big fight with Teofimo Lopez, or even potentially a unification fight with Josh Catterall.
